Invited by the Paris Grand Palais Independent Artists Exhibition, Chinese artist Zheng Taijun arrived to create ink paintings live on site!
As his dynamic brushstrokes brought the paper to life, the audience was deeply moved by the ever-changing charm of Eastern ink art. Before the ink had even dried, a French spectator who had been watching for a long time stepped forward, offering to purchase the artwork on the spot. However, since the piece was a long scroll and difficult to display, Zheng Taijun without hesitation, took out a pair of scissors. The French collector, both nervous and delighted, cut the ink painting...

A Pair of Scissors Cutting Through the Boundaries of Eastern and Western Art
Zheng Taijun, the "traveler in the world of art",with his unique ink art, not only broke the static mode of traditional exhibitions but also used a pair of scissors to cut open a cross-cultural artistic dialogue between the East and the West. This artistic event was not just an exhibition; it sparked profound discussions in the art world about the essence of art, cultural boundaries, and the nature of art collection.

An "undried" art deal: The Impromptu Ritual under the scissors
This act was not only a subversion of traditional art transaction models but also a highly symbolic artistic event. The intervention of the scissors divided a complete artwork, breaking the traditional notion that "art must be preserved in its entirety." This act of "cutting before the ink dries" emphasized the immediacy of art and deconstructed the very act of collecting. The French spectator, both nervous and joyful, cut the artwork, as if participating in an impromptu artistic ritual. Through this act, Zheng Taijun transformed the audience from passive viewers into active participants.

The Contemporary Nature of Ink Art: How Zheng Taijun Redefines Eastern Art
Zheng Taijun's works are not traditional ink paintings but rather a contemporary interpretation of the spirit of Eastern ink art. His pieces no longer confine themselves to traditional themes like landscapes, flowers, and birds. Instead, through fluid brushstrokes and ever-changing ink tones, they express a cross-cultural emotional resonance. At the Paris Grand Palais exhibition, his interaction with Western audiences showcased the new possibilities of ink art in a contemporary context.
This potential is not only reflected in form but also in concept. Zheng Taijun, through his improvisational creation and real-time interaction with the audience, broke the closed nature of artistic creation, liberating ink art from the traditional "scholar's elegance" and endowing it with greater public and participatory qualities. This transformation is an inevitable choice for Eastern art in the context of globalization.
Is Art Borderless? Scissors cut not only paintings, but also cultural boundaries
Zheng Taijun's "ink-cutting event" at the Grand Palais was not just an art transaction but also a microcosm of cultural collision. Through this act, he skillfully revealed the tension between the ideal of "art without borders" and its reality. The scissors cut not only the artwork but also the boundaries between Eastern and Western cultures. The nervousness and joy of the French spectator, as well as Zheng Taijun's complex emotions, reflected the cultural differences and resonance behind this act.
This event also sparked profound reflections on the value of art and the nature of collecting. In the contemporary art market, the value of an artwork is often tied to its completeness and rarity. By intervening with scissors, Zheng Taijun challenged this traditional notion, proposing a more open and dynamic system of artistic value.

Conclusion: What Did Zheng Taijun's Scissors Cut Open?
Zheng Taijun's "ink-cutting event" was not just a unique experience at an art exhibition but also a profound exploration of the essence of art. Through this event, he not only redefined the contemporary nature of ink art but also challenged traditional models of art transactions and collecting. This artistic event at the Paris Grand Palais not only allowed Eastern ink art to blossom in the West but also, through a pair of scissors, cut open the boundaries between Eastern and Western art, initiating a global dialogue about culture, value, and identity.
Zheng Taijun, the "traveler in the world of art", by cutting ink in Paris, did not just cut open an ink artwork, he cut open another possibility for cultural and artistic exchange between the East and the West...
